Making New Years resolutions is a great way to reset and to ask yourself , "How can I do more?, How can I make more?, How can I be better than I was the year before?" It also doesn't hurt to ask yourself these questions more often as well.
If you are like me and have a financial plan for both personal and business, as one of your goals, it's important to have a plan to achieve this goal. This goal, without even thinking about it, likely requires selling something (i.e. yourself, products, services, your company, etc.). Here are four ways you can sell better this year.
1. Be on Top of your game
Whether sales were good for you in 2018 or not it is good to have a strategy put together to plan for the best and prepare for the worst. Think about what went well last year, the years before and keeping doing it but add more on top of that. Also, think about what didn't go well and ask yourself "why didn't they, and what do I do to correct it?".
Invest in yourself through training programs, seminars, books, podcasts, or anything that will help you get you where you want to be. Would you rather spend the next few years learning the ropes yourself through experience or would you rather speed past the frustrations and failures to learn from someone who has been there and is now teaching others what they learned? Worth the investment!
2. Brand Yourself
Whether you are selling products, services or just looking to move up in the company, you have to sell yourself. If you are selling a product or service use social media platforms and networking groups often so people see your face often and get to know you. Branding yourself is what you are going to promise to your clients, customers, co-workers, etc. and follow through on those promises. It tells them what they can expect from you, and it differentiates your offering from your competitors'. Your brand is derived from who you are, who you want to be and who people perceive you to be.
3. Have Credibility
This is similar to branding yourself as it is to have the quality of being trusted and believed in but it also is the convincing others of what you are selling. Gaining trust from others can take from a few minutes or up to a few years. Loosing this trust takes only a few moments.
A few tips on having credibility and gaining that trust, not just once but continuously, is to be transparent in who you are and what you are selling and having the confidence in that product.
There are so many distractions in life to allow curve balls being thrown your way every day or even every minute. Most of these distractions are from the electronic devises we carry around each day. We don't realize this often but checking emails, messages, or any notification on your devices is very time consuming and it can take up to 25 mins to get back on track to what we were doing in the first place.
Time management means to be aware of the time you are given and use it wisely. If you need to make so many sales a day to meet your quota (not company quota, the quota you give yourself) then don't stop till you achieve it. One strategy that works is; if you need to make 50 calls a day to reach your minimum sales, put 50 paper clips in a cup and take one out for ever call you make and don't stop until it is empty.
If anything, be the best you can be and reach the goals that will make you the money you want, or need to have. #financialgoals2019
